Saint Marie Jus of the Castle
Saint Marie Jus of the Castle
It is situated on a slope of the castle and beside
Santo Domingo’s convent. In this place was erected the
Jewish synagogue that
was transferred by the King García el Restaurador to Pamplona’s Cathedral in 1145. It is a structure of one nave with three sections covered by a cross vault, where we can see on the keystone figurative motifs. The apse was built at the end of 12th century. Outside it is remarkable its Romanesque pureness and the gallery of corbels with vegetal decoration. It also presents a
Baroque façade and a brick tower, both added at the second half of the 18th century.
